In the beginning......
After first getting a taste for pottery in the 1980's I gave up the day job in the Civil Service in 2005 to pursue my passion for creating with clay. Following a discussion with my husband which revolved around the number of pots we had in our small terraced house we decided to move to Tysoe where we found the perfect setting for my studio.
A large garden with a fantastic view, a lovely supportive village community and space to build the studio in the garden spurred me on to follow my passion for ceramics, and explore my inner creativity.
Penny Varley Ceramics was launched

I am an unusual designer maker as I create homeware, garden ceramics, jewellery and my Studio Collection. I have a keen eye for shape and form which I incorporate into the detail of my creations and much of my inspiration comes from the view I have from my studio window and from memories of places visited.
All my pieces are unique and if required I am happy to take commissions.
Over the last four years I have made trophies and medals for all the competitors in the the Tysoe 10K Windmill Race. Their reaction to something made in Tysoe and not shipped from China was heart warming.
I have also been involved with working with charities in supporting their members using clay as a communication medium with great success.

I love to share my passion for pottery and nature, and I welcome visitors to my Garden Studio to browse my pots and to see where the magic happens.
Workshops​
Workshops are available for adult individuals or very small groups. No experience is required just come and have fun in a relaxed and creative environment. Have a go on a potters wheel and/or learn a handbuilding technique.
