Visitors are always welcome to come and browse in the studio over a cuppa!! We have a Sale and Seconds shelf for those who love a bargain and a wonderful selection of perfects. My return to this compulsive art form, inspired me to give up ‘the day job’ and to set up my own business in 2005, when I launched Penny Varley Ceramics and since then the business has continued to grow.My work consists of highly glazed pieces along side those of the more subtle tones of a matt finish demonstrating the versatility of my work, which are a pleasure to use and practical.Working from my studio in the garden I predominantly work in a white earthenware clay and each piece is fired twice to a temperature of 1060 degrees. My larger work gains inspiration from organic forms of the sea and wood whilst my domestic ware is both practical and a pleasure to use everyday.Being keen to encourage others in the versatility and pleasure in working with clay I now run small adult workshops in hand building, and can offer 1-1 tuition for those wishing to learn how to throw on the potter’s wheel.I am a regular speaker for Warwickshire WI's, art societies and womens groups. Contact me if you would like to know more. I am a regular participant in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire Arts weeks, and support local and county events.In 2010 a Cambridge company 1Spatial commissioned a plaque for the opening of their new business, this was duly done by HRH the Duke of York and was shown on East Anglia Television. This year also saw my work being exhibited at Compton Verney.My work has been exported to France, Australia, Jersey and America.

Happy New Year to you all....

Well this year is already getting busy....

I am delighted to have been invited to exhibit some romantic pots for the 14th February at Banbury Tourist Information Centre. Work should be in there in the next couple of weeks or if you can't wait that long then do visit the studio.

Easter 6-9th April - Exhibition at the National Herb Centre Warmington Nr Banbury. 10-4pm daily, Free Entry and Parking.

Oxfordshire Art Weeks 5-13th May- I am exhibiting as part of Seen artist network at Hanwell Village Hall nr Banbury, more details to follow.

Warwickshire Art Weeks 30 June to 15th July - Open studio here in Tysoe.

On going display of work permanently in the studio. Also sales shelf for a bargian!!!

Set with the backdrop of Edge Hill, Penny's studio inspires students to get 'hands on' with material from the earth.The aim of the workshops is to have fun and enjoyment, whilst experiencing one of the oldestcrafts in the world.Students can select from half or whole day, 1-1 tuition which helps them to gain confidence in learning new skills, which can either be on the potters wheel or using traditional handbuilding techniques.All materials and firing costs are included in the 1-1 sessions .Set in a traditional potteryNo previous experience is requiredExperienced tutor.Gift vouchers and original pottery for sale.Choose from a half day including refreshments for £50 or £95 for a whole day including a light lunch.orGet together with friends to experience a group workshop.I can come to you or I can arrange the use of the local village Hall.Groups of between 6-10 catered for.Materials included in priceNo previous experience requiredGroups from £30 per person.Tempted? How to find us

Stay on A422 for further 6 miles down steep hill, Tysoe signposted on left at the bottom.

On entering village public house (The Peacock) and post office on right 100 yards on left Old fire Station, next left hand turn Avon Avenue. No 5

Take signs to Banbury - look for signs for Wroxton and Stratford upon avon A422.

On leaving Banbury on A422 you will drive through Wroxton after 2 miles.
